Volunteer

If you are interested in being part of the Hike there are plenty of ways to volunteer:

Hiker
Probably the most important volunteer needed. The Hiker is asked to solicit donations from various people and businesses. The Hiker then completes the course, collects the funds, and ensures that they are received by the Hike during the month of October.
Parish Coordinator
Each Church Parish is in need of a Parish Coordinator, someone who will champion the Hike and make sure that their Parish/Church is informed about the Hike. The Parish Coordinator should contact their Pastor about the Hike and inform him about the need to communicate Hike information to the Church. Once permission is obtained the Coordinator should go to their Youth Ministers, Directors of Religious Education, School principle if there is a school attached to the Parish. The Coordinator should also schedule bulletin announcements and, if possible, set up a display in the back of the Church where people can pick up sign up sheets.
Bike Marshal
The Hike for Life utilizes Bike Marshals going in an opposite direction to the Hikers to ensure that if help is needed it is never far away. Bikers are asked to be prepared to ride for 2 hours with a number of breaks allowed for rest. Bike Marshals are also asked to carry a cell phone for emergencies.
Check-in Table
There are, on occasion, needs at the check in table. Duties include handing out shirts, answering Hiker’s questions, checking in Hikers, and so on.
